Twitter picks up Game of Thrones aftershow

Talk the Thrones will launch following season seven's debut on 16th July

Twitter and Periscope will stream a Game of Thrones aftershow to accompany season seven of the HBO series.

Talk the Thrones will launch following the first episode’s debut on 16th July.

The aftershow has moved to Twitter from HBO Go, HBO Now and HBO On Demand. It will still be hosted by Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan.

Game of Thrones was the most discussed TV series on Twitter last year and was also one of the top 10 hashtags.

“We love Game of Thrones and we love the way Twitter is thinking about content right now, so we jumped at the chance to blow out our Thrones show into an interactive multimedia experience — something that reacts immediately to what just happened, almost like a postgame show in sports,” Talk the Thrones producer Bill Simmons said. “Nobody is equipped to do that better than Twitter.”

Anthony Noto, Twitter chief operating officer and chief financial officer, added: “Talk the Thrones brings the witty banter and real-time analysis you find on Twitter to a live show with hosts that keep it engaging well after the TV show ends.”
