Thomson transmitters chosen for Azerbaijan’s first HD broadcasts

B&B TV Communication, the entity responsible for wireless-cable broadcasting in Azerbaijan, has purchased Thomson Broadcast's DVB-T/DVB-T2 Elite 100 GreenPower transmitters.

B&B TV Communication, the entity responsible for wireless-cable broadcasting of radio and television channels in Azerbaijan, has purchased Thomson Broadcast‘s DVB-T/DVB-T2 Elite 100 GreenPower transmitters. B&B TV will use the transmitters to help introduce high-definition digital broadcasting to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. “We chose Thomson’s Elite 100 GreenPower transmitter because it gives us the enhanced performance we need for the lowest cost of ownership,” said Sabina A. Babayeva, CEO at B&B TV. “It is air-cooled, and thanks to the realtime digital adaptive correction technology, we can easily correct linear and non-linear distortions. Elite 100 will allow us to achieve the highest efficiency with guaranteed performance.” In the first phase of HD broadcasting, B&B TV will deploy three DVB-T2 television transmitting systems up to 2kW in a 6+1 redundancy configuration. The systems will be completed and on the air during Q4 2012. “Our Elite 100 GreenPower transmitters integrate the latest version of 50V LDMOS transistors for outstanding power density and improved OPEX reduction, and they support all digital standards,” said Clovis Carton, EMEA sales director of Thomson Broadcast. “With our transmitters, B&B TV will be able to transmit high-definition television services through the DVB-T2 standard to viewers in Azerbaijan, who will be experiencing HD for the first time.”www.thomson-broadcast.com
