Formula 1 to introduce helmet camera for 2023 season

The Drivers Eye camera weights 1.43 grammes and is 8 millimetres in diameter

Formula 1 is aiming to give fans a brand new angle on Grands Prix with the introduction of a new helmet cam for the 2023 season.

The camera, named The Drivers Eye, has been created by Racing Force Group.

The two companies have entered into an agreement that will see the technology used during the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship.

The Driver’s Eye is the FIA-homologated micro camera (8 millimetres in diameter and weighing 1.43 grammes) positioned at eye-level on the protective padding on the inside of the driver’s helmet.

The technology will be available over the course of the 2023 season to all drivers and helmet manufacturers on the Formula 1 grid, said Racing Force Group.

Formula 1 gave fans a glimpse of what they’ll be able to see from The Drivers Eye last year.
