wTVision has revealed details of its work to support broadcasters in multiple countries with their FIFA World Cup productions.
In Portugal, the company is collaborating on a production workflow with LiveModeTV to support its daily programme. Coordinating the ingest of match feeds delivered via satellite and fibre along with contributions from ENG sources and mobile journalism kits, wTVision oversees the network infrastructure, provides PCR technical support and uses Studio CG for video playout with integrated third-party systems designed to meet the project’s requirements.
wTVisions’s facilities support different broadcasts, with the pre-match programme produced in a chroma studio with a virtual set, while commentary is produced in an auditorium converted into a broadcast studio. The post-match programme can be produced at either site, matching the workflow to the editorial needs of the tournament.
The company is also providing augmented reality (AR) graphics aiming to enhance SPORT TV’s coverage of the tournament. Built on Studio CG with graphics rendered in Unreal Engine and data provided by SportRadar, the integration allows the on-air presentation of information including results, upcoming fixtures, group standings, and top scorers.
Supporting tactical analysis, the AR workflow allows presenters to display team formations, aiming to enable presentation of visual and contextual explanations. The solution enables SPORT TV to describe how the tournament is unfolding, from results to team strategies, enhancing the viewer experience.
wTVision is also providing virtual studios and AR graphics for DAZN Italy’s World Cup coverage, aiming to provide flexibility to the broadcaster’s coverage. Building on the virtual studio ecosystem developed at the NVP Innovation Hub, two new virtual sets have been created for the tournament: one for the OddsChecker programme and another dedicated to World Cup coverage. Designed as a 360-degree virtual environment, part of the set is used for the morning programme, with three sections supporting the evening programme, enabling visual continuity across different editorial requirements.
