Dimenco launches 39” 4K No-Glasses 3D TV via Kickstarter

Dimenco has unveiled a 39” No-Glasses 3D Consumer TV via crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.

“Since its beginning, Dimenco wanted to make No-Glasses 3D technology available to everyone. With the support of the ‘crowd’, we are convinced that we can bring FHD 3D No-Glasses to the consumer market at an incredible price,” said Bas Ploeger, CMO of Dimenco.

Until now, 3D auto-stereoscopic (No-Glasses) displays were always compromised significantly by the perceived resolution, limited freedom of movement and high cost. According to Dimenco, the reason for this is the optical layer that is laminated on top of the LCD. This optical layer is used to send different information to each eye, thereby creating a 3D perception. This is very similar to a lenticular card. In addition to this optical layer, clever and proprietary image processing is required to provide an optimal 3D picture.

Dimenco has solved the restricted freedom of movement and loss of resolution by applying a unique optical structure on top of the 4K (UD) resolution LCD panels. The combination of this optical structure and the underlying high resolution panel results in a No-Glasses FHD 3D experience.

To make this technology available for everyone, Dimenco targets an introductory market price of €899. “With the support of crowdfunding via Kickstarter, we can realise the necessary volume and investment to make this product available to the consumer market. The funds generated by this project will help us to set up full scale manufacturing.”
