BT is set to introduce a “next generation” YouView service in the coming months.

The update will see an improved user interface for managing records, whilst a redesigned BT TV app in 2017 aims to simplify live streaming on mobile devices.

Included is a new image-rich user experience, easy access to channels and on-demand content, and a “seamless TV experience in and out of the home”.

The broadcaster is also aiming to be the first in the UK to launch Dolby Atmos sound, adding it to its BT Sport 4K UHD TV packages in January, and will start showing boxing on Saturday nights from early 2017 in a new partnership with BoxNation.

“In 2017 we’re going to further shake up the market by releasing our new viewing experience across our TV guide and on demand, our new TV app and on our BT Sport channels, provided as a free upgrade for our customers,” said Delia Bushell, managing director of BT TV and BT Sport.

“Our expanding list of sports rights will now include BoxNation and access to boxing world title bouts, all included in the price of the BT Sport subscription.”
