Genelec powers Paris post production for Titrafilm

Genelec monitoring underpinned the extension of Titrafilm's post production facilities across two sites in the French capital

Genelec has released details of a collaboration with Titrafilm as the company expands its post production facilities across two Paris sites. Equipped with Genelec monitors as standard, one building features two mix studios, an ADR studio, ten sound edit suites, ten picture edit suites and a grading room. At the company’s main hub in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, nine buildings are interconnected by fibre and RJ45 with three central machine rooms. The infrastructure follows the vision of the late Pierre Frilley, a key figure at Titrafilm until his passing last year, at the age of 87.

Genelec forms the common language throughout, whether stereo, LCR, 5.1, 7.1.4 or theatrical Atmos on 38 loudspeakers. Monitoring for the newest Atmos suites is comprised of 1032C models for LCR and 8340As for surrounds. With single cable connectivity, 4430A Smart IP PoE networked models have been utilised for ceiling channels. Smart IP is widely used across the facilities but limited to overhead positions only in the new Atmos rooms due to space constraints.

Combining RAW aluminium models and 7060B subwoofer in edit suites, a blend of classic performance and modern Dante connectivity is enabled. The audio systems were designed by audio CTO Miguel Adélise, in collaboration with integrator CTM Solutions and Genelec distributor, Audio Technica France.

“Everyone knows Genelec and knows exactly what to expect,” said Adélise. “We needed a system that was simple, reliable, scalable, well-documented, and made sense financially. Genelec ticked every box.”

GLM calibration software is used where applicable, enabling predictable translation of mixes between spaces. “It’s effective and quick to set up, but we still like to make a few manual tweaks afterwards,” said Adélise. “There are no more endless debates about how things sound – we know the Genelec sound, and we can just get on with the work.”

All rooms are pre-wired for Atmos, aiming to simplify expansion and underpinning Titrafilm’s plans to add Foley and music production to ecure remote recording and live contributions for broadcast, podcasts, and events, said the company.

Adélise concluded, “With Genelec, we know we’ve got a partner who understands our world,” . “The whole system just works; it keeps us creative, efficient and ready for whatever comes next – which is exactly where we want to be.”
