BIMM unites campuses under MetFilm School banner and launches new MetStudios brand

The plans aim to boost education in creative digital media, responding to growing international demand

BIMM University has announced a merger of its education brands and the launch of MetStudios.

The university, a specialist in music, film, performing arts and creative technology, has announced the merger of its recently acquired MetFilm School with its Screen and Film School, and the launch of MetStudios.

Aiming to boost creative digital media education, BIMM University will be the only awarding body for all new MetFilm School under and postgraduate students from September 2025. Students will benefit from an expanded MetFilm School community, it said, with access to campuses in London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Brighton and Berlin.

Commenting on the announcement of a single MetFilm School brand, Dara Kilkenny, pro vice-chancellor of screen and film at BIMM University, said, “By combining our strengths, the two schools will create a unique offer, giving all students access to state-of-the-art film studios, industry standard kit, top lecturers, and important industry connections. By bringing together each school’s rich history, resources and significant achievements, we are positioning MetFilm School as the market leader in film and screen education across Europe, and the UK.”

MetStudios has also been unveiled as a new, specialist school within the group, with a focus on games, animation and visual effects (VFX). The brand aims to bridge the skills gap in the creative sector, responding to international demand for skilled professionals in the creative media industries. Campuses are already open in Brighton and Berlin, with further plans to expand operations in Bristol, Manchester, London and Leeds next year.

Sam Hope, dean of film faculty at BIMM University, said, “This is an incredibly exciting time for BIMM University, MetFilm School, and Screen and Film School. Our unified brand under MetFilm School and the introduction of MetStudios reflect our commitment to delivering world-class education in creative technologies. We are confident that these changes will significantly enhance the learning experience for our students and cement our position as the leader in creative arts education.”
