Bitmovin debuts React Native SDK v1.0 for Bitmovin Player

Video developers using the open-source platform Expo to build React Native applications can now leverage enhanced capabilities in rendering, responsiveness, and integration speed across Android, Android TV, iOS, and tvOS

Video streaming solutions company Bitmovin has released Bitmovin React Native SDK v1.0 for the Bitmovin Player.

The update delivers full support for Expo SDK and React Native New Architecture, enabling developers to launch higher-quality native video applications faster, with improved performance and reduced time to market, said the company.

Video developers using the open-source platform Expo to build React Native applications can now leverage enhanced capabilities in rendering, responsiveness, and integration speed across Android, Android TV, iOS, and tvOS, added Bitmovin. With the new Expo configuration plugin, developers can replace lengthy manual processes with a single configuration step, significantly streamlining setup and reducing the potential for errors.

As part of the release, Bitmovin has improved the debugging experience, enabling users to debug directly within React Native DevTools via Chrome, making it easier to diagnose and resolve playback or integration issues without slowing down the development cycle.

The Bitmovin React Native SDK v1.0 fully supports React Native New Architecture, ensuring any integration is future-proofed as the legacy architecture is phased out.

“Our focus with this release is to improve the developer experience with simple and easy-to-use tools that can integrate into existing video workflows with significantly less code,” said Stefan Lederer, CEO and co-founder of Bitmovin. “As a result, our customers will be able to make their services more mobile-friendly and provide their audiences with the superior viewing experiences they expect and deserve.”
