Bitmovin Observability released as standalone solution

Providing real-time observability tailored for video playback, the solution aims to enhance monitoring for enterprise streaming services and live productions such as sports

Bitmovin has announced the launch of its Observability solution.

Designed to enable real-time monitoring, Bitmovin Observability, originally a feature within Bitmovin Analytics, has been released as a standalone solution. The platform aims to deliver new visibility across content and advertising playback, enable video providers to instrument video playback and proactively support viewers.

Specifically tailored for video playback, Bitmovin Observability features deep session-level insights, advanced error debugging, an incident screen  with alerts and telemetry to drive monetisation.

An MCP server enables LLMs and AI agents to access the data and tools. Advertising observability allows streaming services to immediately enhance ad performance and engagement. Analysing playback data, the solution assigns a score from 0 to 100 based on factors including start-up, smoothness, video quality and session success. Services can use Bitmovin’s AI Session Interpreter to access insights and recommendations to optimise performance.

Stefan Lederer, CEO and co-founder, Bitmovin, commented, “While general purpose observability products have a lot of value in enterprise IT, they aren’t designed for video. Bitmovin Observability is different because it’s tailor made for video streaming so it provides the necessary detail to identify and resolve issues with playback quality, advertising or viewership. Real-time observability is also particularly important for live events streaming because monitoring video playback globally is extremely challenging, and service disruptions directly affect revenue.”
