Multi-camera replay systems and first-person view drone footage planned for Milano Cortina Winter Games

At a gathering of media rights-holders, OBS provided broadcasters with an update on its plans for the Games

Olympic Broadcasting Services has revealed some of its plans for the 2026 Winter Games.

The Games will span over 22,000 square km across the two cities of Milan and Cortina in the North of Italy, with the International Broadcast Centre based in Milan.

At a gathering of media rights-holders, OBS provided broadcasters with an update on its plans for the Games.

The company confirmed remote production and cloud technologies will play an increasing role in the broadcast operations of Milano Cortina 2026, given the widespread distribution of the venues.

Further adoption of the cloud will not only reduce space and power requirements, but will also enable broadcasters to share even more content, especially on digital platforms, generating even more exposure for the Games, said OBS.

More multi-camera replay systems and first-person view drone footage are planned to help enrich the coverage and enhance the viewing experience. MRHs will have access to an expanded service offering and cloud technologies to deliver their content to their home territories more efficiently, added OBS.

“We recognise the strategic importance of broadcasters in spreading the values of sport and enabling billions of fans around the world to follow the exploits of their heroes,” said Andrea Varnier, chief executive officer of Milano Cortina 2026.

“Based on previous editions of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, we are proud to see the growing media interest, with an increase in TV hours and an ever-growing global audience.”

The Milano Cortina Games take place from 6th to 22nd February 2026.
