Bitmovin and Layercake integration drives end-to-end media orchestration

The combined solution supports OTT streaming, live sports, simulcast workflows and enterprise video, aiming to deliver a flexible and scalable foundation for modern media operations

Layercake has announced the integration of its orchestration platform with Bitmovin. Building on the deployment of Bitmovin with Layercake’s Streamcake-powered workflows, the announcement marks its evolution into a component of Streamcake’s end-to-end orchestration layer, said the company.

The integration blends Bitmovin’s encoding, analytics and playback facilities with the Streamcake orchestration and automation engine, aiming to enable the design, deployment and operation of complete media workflows throughout the entire content lifecycle, from ingest to delivery and playback.

Acting as the control plane for the Bitmovin ecosystem, the platform enables dynamic workflow configuration, real-time optimisation and efficient management of infrastructure. Automating processes such as ingest, encoding, packaging, DRM, delivery and playback through a single orchestration layer, Streamcake aims to reduce operational complexity, enable faster deployment and enhance reliability across scalable, cloud-based operations.

Domenic Romeo, CTO of Layercake, said, “This capability is already delivering real results within our platform. Formalising our integration with Bitmovin reflects the maturity of the solution and the value it brings to customers. It’s a key capability that enables us to deliver true end-to-end orchestration.”

“We’re excited to see Bitmovin’s streaming capabilities integrated as a core component within Streamcake’s orchestration layer,” added Ian Baglow, Co-CEO, Bitmovin. “By combining our encoding, playback and analytics technologies with Layercake’s orchestration platform, customers can build and operate highly scalable, end-to-end video workflows with greater efficiency, flexibility and control.”
