Serie A postpones Mediapro deadline again

€1.3 billion per season deal to be reviewed by the league's 20 clubs

The deadline for Serie A’s negotiations with Mediapro over a new dedicated Italian league channel has been extended again until at least 16th December.

A vote on Mediapro’s proposals was previously due to be taken on 25th November. The €1.3 billion per season deal will be reviewed by Serie A’s 20 clubs.

“It was a long discussion and at the end it was decided that a series of modifications are needed to the [proposal] text, which is already considered by most of the clubs to be very good,” said Serie A chief executive Luigi De Siervo. “It must be improved in certain aspects so we have given ourselves until 16th December.”

Currently shared by Sky Italia and DAZN, the league’s broadcast rights are expected to increase in value under the Mediapro deal, which would commence from the 2021/22 season through 2023/24.
