Mediapro cleared for takeoff at Europe’s biggest airshow of the year

More than 20 cameras including drones, RF Steadicams and robotic runway cameras will be used at Spain's Aire 25

Aire 25, Europe’s largest airshow of the year, will take place on the afternoon of Sunday June 15th in the skies above the Mar Menor coast in Murcia. Mediapro Brands, a Grup Mediapro company, will be responsible for the production, direction and audiovisual content for the event, with a number of other group companies providing technical expertise to various elements of the two-hour broadcast.

With the aerobatic action taking place high in the sky and over a 4 kilometre area, bringing it to the small screen represents a significant technical challenge, requiring what the company said is an “exceptionally precise camera setup.”

To ensure the wide-ranging and fast-moving performance is captured in its entirety, crew members will be stationed both at the San Javier air base, home to the Spanish Air and Space Force’s (EAES) Spanish Air Academy (AGA) and at locations on the coast.

An Overon DSNG placed at the AGA will deliver a signal from six cameras comprising a drone, RF Steadicam and robotic runway cams, plus a camera with an 86x zoom and an ENG unit to a coastal OB unit. This unit will manage 12 cameras, including a drone, RF/fibre optics cameras and SSM as well as the signal from St Javier.

In total, Mediapro will deploy more than 20 cameras and 75 broadcast professionals to the production. The show will be broadcast live on RTVE’s Channel 1 and feature pilot interviews, expert analysis and behind-the-scenes footage of preparations.
