ProSiebenSat.1 CEO to depart

Thomas Ebeling will leave at the end of February

German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has announced its CEO Thomas Ebeling will leave the company at the end of February, earlier than expected.

Ebeling had told the firm that he would not be available to renew his contract when it was due to expire in mid 2019, ProSiebenSat.1 said.

As a result, the company said its supervisory board initiated the search for a successor “some time ago” and will make an announcement in due course.

Ebeling will leave the company at the end of its fiscal year for 2017, which is scheduled for 22nd February 2018. He has been CEO since the beginning of 2009.

Conrad Albert, who has been with the company since 2005, has been appointed deputy chairman of ProSiebenSat.1’s executive board whilst the firm searches for a successor.

“Our search for a successor focuses on a personality that continues the outstanding work of Thomas Ebeling and continues to drive diversification and digital transformation with equally entrepreneurial vision and assertiveness,” said Werner Brandt, chairman of the supervisory board of ProSiebenSat.1 Media.
