Jaume Roures speaks out on Mediapro ousting

The company's co-founder said it was not his choice to leave

Jaume Roures has publicly spoken out about his ousting from Spanish production company Mediapro.

Mediapro announced on Friday that Roures was leaving the company, at the request of its biggest shareholder, with immediate effect.

Roures founded Mediapro alongside Tatxo Benet and Gerard Romy in April 1994.

In an interview with TV programme El món on RAC1, Roures said the decision to leave was not his. “I am not dissociating myself from Mediapro, they are taking away my responsibility,” he said.

He added that he was told he could not send Mediapro’s staff an official farewell email on Friday, and instead sent an external email yesterday.

Roures revealed Mediapro offered to make him a director of the company, but “I have no interest in being a director of anything,” he said, adding that he intends to sell his 5 per cent share in the company.
