Sky Deutschland to broadcast Bundesliga in Dolby Atmos

The top match every Saturday will be available with enhanced audio

From the start of 2022/23 football season, Sky Deutschland will broadcast one Bundesliga match a week in Dolby Atmos.

It makes Sky the first broadcaster in Germany to bring Dolby Atmos to live sport broadcasts.

The Deutsche Football League will be responsible for the audio signal as part of its production on the Saturday afternoon games.

Viewers will need a Sky Q receiver and a Dolby Atmos-enabled end device in order to benefit from the enhanced audio.

Charly Classen, executive vice president Sport at Sky Deutschland said: “It is our goal to always offer our customers the best fan experience. This includes, among other things, top transmission quality, top experts, special features, but also a special sound experience.”

Dolby’s Stefan Kramper added: “Dolby Atmos is perfect for use in live sports and brings the stadium feeling directly into the living room more realistically than ever before. The spectators experience chants, goals, referee whistles and commentators right there in the room where they should be heard – and in the best possible sound quality. Dolby Atmos makes the top game in the Bundesliga a very special event every week.”

Sky UK launched Premier League matches in Dolby Atmos at the start of the 2017/18 season.
