RTL has officially completed the acquisition of Sky Deutschland, first announced in June 2025.
Sky Deutschland is available to viewers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as well as Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and the South Tyrol province of Italy.
The deal sees Sky’s premium sports rights, including Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, Premier League and Formula 1, combined with RTL’s entertainment and news brands across RTL+, free-to-air and pay-TV.
According to the company, the decision to acquire Sky Deutschland was driven by the aim of “strengthening local media companies in competition with global streaming services”.
“The transaction is expected to generate annual synergies of €250 million within three years of completion,” added RTL.
