Channel 4 has announced its best-ever day for streaming views.
According to data from Barb, Channel 4 streaming viewer figures for September rose by 36 per cent year-on-year, putting the company of all leading streamers including the BBC, Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Sky, Channel 4, Five and ITV. Viewer minutes totalled 6.7 billion across the month.
Channel 4 announced the 7th October was its best-ever day for streaming views, and this month becomes the biggest streamer among commercial broadcasters for the 16-34 viewer age group, with 460 million viewer minutes.
Throughout September, the company achieved more than 6 billion viewing minutes, driven by its Altogether Different programme line-up includingThe Great British Bake Off and Married At First Sight UK.
With 58 per cent of its audience ABC1s, Channel 4 remains the most upmarket streamer. Additionally, young people now watch more than half (52 per cent) of its content via streaming, a higher proportion than any other commercial broadcaster. Four of its shows, Educating Yorkshire, The Great British Bake Off, Taskmaster and Married At First Sight UK, amassed a combined total of 599 million 16-34 minutes.
