Virtual production cleared for takeoff with Vu Technologies’ Runway partnership

Aligning with Vu Technologies’ aim to expand access to its suite of creative solutions, the partnership combines its network of virtual production studios with generative AI technologies

Vu Technologies has announced a collaboration with Runway.

The partnership aims to enable users of Vū Studio software to generate video plates or add movement to existing assets. Underpinned by Nvidia solutions including the Nvidia AI Enterprise platform and NVIDIA NIM microservices, the integration of Vu Technologies’ API with Runway’s creative solutions provides enhanced performance and scalability for AI-driven content creation from synthetic video generation to dynamic motion editing, said the companies.

The solution eliminates the need for traditional footage sources, enabling the creation of new video backdrops and environments within Vū Studio. Static assets can be enhanced with dynamic asset movement.

Cristobal Valenzuela, CEO of Runway, commented, “We designed our API to give developers seamless access to Runway’s industry-leading video generation models, trusted by millions of creative professionals. By leveraging this technology, our partners can rapidly enhance their products and services.”

Increasing workflow efficiencies, the integration provides a unified interface, driving creativity while reducing time and production costs, said the companies.

“Virtual production requires advanced performance and scalability to keep up with AI-driven content creation,” said Richard Kerris, vice president of media and entertainment at NVIDIA. “Leading-edge virtual production tools from Vu, now enhanced and accelerated by the breakthrough generative AI technologies from Runway and Nvidia, are bringing global developers together to enable a new era of digital creativity.”
