ARRI has enhanced its Hi-5 lens control system with the launch of the new cforce MAX lens motor. Designed to enable easy setup, versatile mounting and reliability in demanding shooting environments, cforce MAX is twice as fast as the cforce plus motor it replaces.
Joining the ARRI family alongside the ultra-compact cforce mini and wireless cforce mini RF lens motors, cforce MAX is ideal for larger cine primes, zoom lenses, vintage glass and speciality optics requiring strength and precision, said the company. With a form factor 15 per cent smaller and lighter than the cforce plus, the motor also provides versatility across handheld, gimbal and studio configurations.
The accompanying MRC1 Motor Rod Clamp enables connection to lens gears, adjustment on 19 mm/15 mm rods in multiple positions and is compatible across the range, significantly improving stability and flexibility.
Featuring an advanced brushless motor, cforce MAX is quiet, durable and easy to service, said ARRI. Market-leading latency and a high speed of up to 400 teeth per second make it ideal for use with focus tracking systems.
Georg Lanz, an experienced focus puller and beta tester of the cforce MAX, said, “I have tested the cforce MAX in the hottest place on Earth, in jungles, and out on the open sea. Beyond its reliability, the responsiveness and speed genuinely allow me to do a better job, especially in documentary or free flowing environments where I am constantly reacting to unexpected movement.”
Core functions are controlled via a physical button while an integrated display with touchscreen interface aims to provide intuiive configuration and status monitoring on the motor. ARRI intends to provide ongoing software updates to enhance the feature set. Dual LBUS ports aim to provide seamless daisy-chaining and flexible system integration using standard cables, as well as full LBUS backwards compatibility.
The system can be used with most existing ARRI mounting brackets, rods and drive gears.
