AP selects DaVinci Resolve Studio for global news operations

The transition supports the production of more than 1,500 video projects every day

Blackmagic Design has revealed AP has deployed DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Aiming to support its global news operations, the agency has transitioned to the solution with several hundred licenses to enable the creation of more than 1,500 video projects every day.

Designed to meet AP’s breaking news requirements, the integration includes several new capabilities, said Blackmagic. Growing Transport Stream Editing enables journalists to work on live incoming video feeds from AP’s MAM ahead of complete file transfers, allowing content to be cut and distributed within seconds of arrival.

Aiming to ensure branding and production standards are maintained across all locations, DaVinci Resolve Studio provides AP with a cloud-based preset and graphics distribution system with graphics templates, project settings and export settings, eliminating the need for manual downloads.

Integrating with AP’s MAM, Resolve enables scalable cloud rendering, automatically scaling capacity during major events to reduce reliance on local rendering by journalists and editors. Simplifying software management, Blackmagic cloud monitors, assigns and redistributes Resolve licences across AP’s global user base.

Derl McCrudden, AP vice president and head of global news production, said, “AP produces video from more than 100 countries, delivering content to thousands of broadcasters, publishers and digital platforms every day. In support of that crucial journalism, we are working with DaVinci Resolve Studio to equip our journalists with state of the art editing and production tools.”
