AWS Elemental MediaConvert supports 4K frame sizes in AV1 output format

Enhancements expand the AV1 encoding capabilities of AWS Elemental MediaConvert to enable creation of High Dynamic Range (HDR) 4K content

AWS Elemental MediaConvert has added support for the creation of the AV1 (AOMedia Video 1) format in 4K frame sizes and with 10-bit colour depth.

MediaConvert is AWS Elemental’s file-based transcoding service.

According to the company, the latest enhancements expand the AV1 encoding capabilities of AWS Elemental MediaConvert to enable creation of High Dynamic Range (HDR) 4K content for display on modern, colour rich 4K playback devices.

AV1 enables users to deliver high-quality SD, HD, and now 4K high dynamic range video to mobile and other devices at low bitrates unachievable with traditional formats such as AVC (H.264) and HEVC (H.265).

AWS Elemental MediaConvert enables video providers with any size content library to transcode on-demand content for broadcast and multiscreen delivery.
