LYNX Technik has announced the launch of the CDE 1923 yellobrik bi-directional 3G-SDI to SMPTE ST 2110 converter.
Aiming to simplify the integration of SDI and IP infrastructures across hybrid environments such as OB trucks, production studios and other applications transitioning from baseband SDI to IP, the solution enables reliable signal conversion while enabling synchronisation of both technologies.
Following customer feedback, the CDE 1923 retains core bi-directional conversion capabilities and adds dedicated Reference Input and Reference Output connections to bridge the timing requirements of traditional SDI infrastructure and ST 2110 networks in a single solution. While SDI systems typically use a physical reference signal for synchronisation, ST 2110 networks rely on Precision Time Protocol (PTP). The CDE 1923 combines both environments.
Reference Input allows the SDI output to lock to a facility’s local reference, aligning with other SDI equipment and enabling the converter to integrate into an established timing environment. Additional flexibility is provided by the Reference Output, enabling the converter to generate aTri-Level Sync output from SMPTE ST 2059 PTP. The solution can also convert incoming sync signals to Tri-Level Sync at a higher frame rate, said the company, providing a physical reference signal for synchronising connected SDI equipment.
Commenting, Vincent Noyer, CTO at LYNX Technik, said, “We’re very proud to build upon the existing CDE 1922 platform and respond directly to what our customers have been asking for,. By adding Reference Input and Reference Output while maintaining the same compact yellobrik form factor, we’ve been able to make an already versatile converter even more useful. The CDE 1923 gives customers greater flexibility when connecting SDI equipment to an ST 2110 environment, without adding complexity or requiring additional space.”
