Shure debuts latest MV88 mic with USB-C connectivity

The mic can now be plugged directly into Android and iOS mobile devices, simplifying operations for content creation on the go

Shure has announced the launch of its upgraded MV88 USB-C Stereo Microphone.

Designed to simplify operations for content creators, the updated MV88 now features a USB-C connection allowing the mic to be plugged straight into Android or iOS devices, in addition to customisable audio processing options that aim to meet the needs of any recording scenarios.

Removing the need for manual adjustment, the MV88’s Auto Level Mode continuously adjusts gain in real time ensuring audio is never too loud or quiet. Background noise is removed by Real-time Denoiser, intelligently providing clean, professional sound in any environment, said the company.

Eduardo Valdes, associate VP of global marketing and product management at Shure, said, “The original MV88 earned a loyal following for its simplicity and sound quality. With the new MV88 USB-C, we’ve elevated reliable, professional audio. Just connect, and you’re ready to record on the go. There’s no need to worry about pairing, range, dropouts, or battery life—the MV88 USB-C delivers straightforward connectivity paired with the high-powered, simple-to-customise audio processing found in our acclaimed MV7+ and MV6 microphones. Creators can focus on their craft and leave the audio excellence to us.”

Five quick-start presets enable easy customisation while advanced controls such as microphone gain, five-band EQ, limiter, compression and a high-pass filter can be accessed via the MOTIV Video and MOTIV Audio mobile apps or MOTIV Mix on desktop.

With the ability to be paired with four selectable polar patterns: adjustable stereo, mono cardioid, mono bi-directional and raw-mid side, the upgrade aims to enable simple plug in and go audio capture across a wide range of scenarios.
