European Union commissioner Thierry Breton has called on streamers to switch to SD “when HD is not necessary” to help alleviate internet strain during coronavirus measures.
Vodafone said it is experiencing a 30 per cent rise in internet traffic across its UK fixed-line and mobile networks while more people are working from home; TalkTalk reported a 20 per cent increase since Monday.
Vodafone told the BBC: “We have enough headroom to meet growing demand and to keep the UK connected. Our network team is keeping a constant watch on the situation.”
