Spain’s RTVE switches off SD DTT signal

The broadcaster had previously announced plans to cease its SD transmission as it moves towards both HD and UHD over DTT

Spanish broadcaster RTVE will officially switch off its DTT standard definition channel feeds tonight.

The broadcaster had previously announced plans to cease its SD transmission as it moves towards both HD and UHD over DTT.

It has now confirmed the switch-off will take place tonight (February 5th, 2024).

It added that channels La 1, La 2, 24 Horas, Clan and Teledeporte will all continue to broadcast in HD on DTT

RTVE move to higher-resolution broadcasts follows France Télévisions’ France 2 channel, which began broadcasting in 4K UHD at the end of last month.
