Samsung expands HDR10+ ecosystem

Electronics giant has added Google Play Movies to the range of streaming content available in HDR10+

Samsung has added Google Play Movies to the range of streaming content it is able to offer viewers in HDR10+.

The HDR10+ service is now available on Samsung Smart TVs in 117 countries including Europe, North America, and Korea.

According to Samsung, the addition of Google Play Movies’s support for HDR10+ is expected to accelerate the expansion of the HDR10+ standard alliance, which already has 108 partners worldwide.

Samsung Electronics formed HDR10+ LLC (HDR10+ technology joint venture) in 2017 and started to engage in certification programmes in 2018.

“We are pleased to expand partnerships with the top global streaming providers,” said Younghun Choi, EVP and head of R&D team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to strengthen the leadership of our HDR standard and lead the innovation in TV technology in the global market.”
