My5 has announced its fastest ever growth rate.
Channel 5’s streaming service reported year-on-year growth up 53 per cent over 2024. The figures, based on Barb TV Viewing Minutes (TVM) put My5 ahead of BBC iPlayer at 24 per cent as well as ITVX and Channel 4, with 22 per cent and 15 per cent respectively.
Growth was driven by a range of Channel 5 shows across various genres, including documentary, drama and true crime, said the company. A busy festive period also contributed to the viewing figures, with the streamer experiencing its best-ever Christmas and Boxing Days.
In March, the streaming service will be relaunched under the parent brand, 5, which will unify the channel’s linear, streaming and digital platforms. The relaunch will see the service boosted with “a significantly expanded content offer,” said the company, including additional boxsets and shows from across the wider Paramount family.
Chief content officer at Channel 5, Ben Frow, commented, “2024 was a huge year for My5 as our viewers really discovered the depth of content, particularly our Channel 5 dramas, that we have on the service. We know that audiences increasingly want to switch seamlessly between streaming and linear TV and that’s why in March we are relaunching both our services under the combined brand of 5 with a significantly greater range of programming on offer.”
