England World Cup semi-final reached peak audience of 7.3m on BBC One

The game was also streamed over 3.8 million times on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online as the Lionesses progressed through to their first ever World Cup Final

The BBC has revealed that its BBC One coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Semi-Final between England and Australia reached a peak audience of 7.3 million, the most watched game of the tournament so far.

The match was also streamed 3.8 million times on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online as the Lionesses beat the tournament co-hosts 3-1 to reach their first ever World Cup Final. Highlights and clips from the game have since been streamed 2.7 million times across the BBC’s digital platforms.

England will now face Spain in Sunday’s final, which will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport Online, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds.
