Evertz has revealed details of its collaboration with Mediaset.
Leveraging a range of Evertz’ solutions, the Italian broadcaster has designed, deployed and launched its new low-latency, SMPTE ST 2110- based channel origination and playout solution. Supporting more than 26 dynamic channels including sports/news and thematic channels, the system aims to maintain synchronisation and resilience across a highly distributed architecture incorporating multiple sites.

Evertz Mediator enables automation and comprehensive media asset management (MAM) functions, providing automated content ingest, QC and scheduling workflows across a range of content types and signal sources, said the company. The system aims to deliver further efficiencies via the integration of Overture-RT-LIVE integrated playout servers, MAGNUM-OS orchestration and VUE control interfaces.
Supporting on-premise, cloud or hybrid infrastructure, the deployment aims to provide Mediaset with a future-proof technology stack that will evolve with the company to meet its changing business needs.
Commenting on the partnership, Maurizio Raffaeli, director of broadcast TV technology at Mediaset, said, “We are extremely pleased with the flexibility, agility and scalability of the Evertz solution. This was a fast-moving project requiring collaboration across multiple teams at Evertz and Mediaset. Over the course of just 18 months, we have completely transitioned to IP and streamlined both operations and facilities while delivering a better control plane for operations at the same time.”
Dan Turow, SVP of media distribution and CIO at Evertz added, “We thank Mediaset for the opportunity to partner with them. Their innovative and forward-thinking approach has enabled the deployment of a very powerful system delivering industry-leading features/functions, resilience and operational efficiencies.”
