Veset, swxtch.io partner on cloud multicasting capabilities

The partnership aims to give broadcasters the ability to multicast in a cloud environment, mimicking on-prem capability

Veset is integrating its Nimbux cloud playout solution with swXtch.io’s cloudSwXtch, a virtual overlay network, to give broadcasters, content owners and rightsholders more scale and flexibility in delivering content feeds to audiences.

The integration means content can be delivered simultaneously to Veset Nimbus and various other third-party products, without the need for added complexity of unicast to many endpoints, said the partners.

It is particularly useful for tier 1 and 2 broadcasters with multi-channel operations, as well as broadcasters using alt-casting (alternate broadcasting), which delivers different coverage and content to the main broadcast of an event.

Lelde Ardava, COO, Veset, commented: “Broadcasters today need the flexibility and scalability that the cloud offers, yet for many, the inability to easily multicast in the cloud has been a barrier to cloud adoption. Veset’s partnership with swXtch.io overcomes that pain point by delivering streamlined cloud multicasting capability. It also supports Nimbus users to reach a wider audience with alt-casts.”

Patrick McCoy, chief product officer, swXtch.io added: “By combining swXtch.io and Veset technologies, we’re offering broadcasters the ability to multicast in a cloud environment, mimicking on-prem capability. It brings on-prem multicast to the cloud in one network for scalability, flexibility and cost efficiency. This collaboration with Veset will enable us to support broadcasters to leverage the cloud to gain the many benefits it offers.”
