IBC 2023: The insider’s guide

In a new series of Q&As, we go behind the scenes with IBC staff to find out the story of the show from an insider's perspective. We start with senior marketing manager, Ayse Behcet

My typical IBC routine

Throughout the year, our focus is on driving registrations for the show and communicating all of the exciting new features IBC has on offer this year. We aim to put the spotlight on the exceptional speakers bringing cutting-edge thought leadership to the IBC Conference and across the show-floor theatres, as well as keeping the IBC community informed on how they can make the most out of their show experience. 

Once we get to Amsterdam, it’s an exceptionally busy week; keeping all attendees updated on the innovation on display and the headline speakers for the day, as well as meeting media partners, exhibitors, and visitors to ensure we deliver a great show for everyone that comes to IBC. 

Why is IBC important?

It’s such a buzz to get to the RAI and witness the show in full swing after many months of hard work and planning. It’s where all of our new projects and show elements come to fruition, and seeing people having an enjoyable and productive show is hugely rewarding for our team.

IBC is a pivotal event for our industry. We know the critical role IBC has to play in enabling innovation and providing the platform for global media and technology companies to do business face-to-face. Large scale events like IBC provide the networking environment to build powerful new connections that you can’t really re-create anywhere else.

The free-to-attend IBC Changemakers Programme is at the heart of our new People and Purpose content pillar, spotlighting mission-critical topics like gender equality, sustainability and inclusive tech. We’ve got a fantastic line-up of industry visionaries championing diversity, creativity, and a green future for the media industry. On top of the in-show content, stay tuned for our Changemakers podcast series running throughout August.

Amsterdam is also a beautiful city with a lively atmosphere, and I can’t wait to catch up with lots of familiar faces again, and meet plenty of new ones.
