The Pixel Lab 2014 participants chosen

Thirty-two cross-media professionals will take part in PttP's annual Pixel Lab event

Thirty-two cross-media professionals from Europe have been selected to take part in Power to the Pixel’s (PttP) annual Pixel Lab event, taking place in Baden-Württemberg in July.

Now in its fifth year, The Pixel Lab is a cross-media workshop during which participants experience a residential project-focused training week. The workshop is designed to allow participants to develop skills and exchange ideas, to create, produce and finance cross-media properties to maximise audience engagement and to monetise effectively.

Participants attending with projects include award-winning filmmaker Tina Gharavi with From the Plantation to the Penitentiary: Maintaining The Slave Trade in Obama’s America; Cinétévé’s Lily Lambert with Avides, written by Thomas Bidegain whose past credits include Rust and Bone; and the recent winner of the Google Digital Media Award, writer and director Tim Travers Hawkins with Invisible Picture Show.

The sixteen European producers taking part will develop projects that incorporate film, interactive, live event, mobile, gaming, TV, publishing or online, partnered with 16 cross-media professionals who include producers, screenwriters, commissioning editors, financiers, story architects, cross-media, games and interactive developers.

“The Pixel Lab continues to draw the best new and exciting ideas developed by creative talent,” commented Liz Rosenthal, CEO and founder of PttP. “In the Lab’s intensive, energetic and collaborative environment they receive expert guidance, in-depth attention and valuable feedback from a team of the world’s top cross-media mentors.”
