Sky Italia has confirmed the appointment of Maximo Ibarra as its new CEO.
He will join the company on 1st October. Ibarra is due to leave his current role as CEO of Dutch telecoms operator on 30th September.
Speaking of Ibarra’s appointment, Sky’s chief executive in Continental Europe Andrea Zappia said: “I am happy to welcome Maximo Ibarra as the new CEO of Sky Italia and to be able to work together with him to seize the many opportunities that the company has before it.”
Ibarra added: “I am excited to join Sky, a company that has revolutionised the television experience in Italy by focusing on innovation and content.
“I look forward to using my skills for the development and expansion of the business in Italy, taking advantage of the numerous opportunities that Sky has to face in a time of great technological transformation.”
Rumours of Ibarra’s appointment first began to swirl yesterday.
