ANNOVA Holding has taken a 51% share of Berlin-based plantri. ANNOVA hopes this acquisition will assist it in responding to increasing demands for web-based solutions and social media integration in newsroom workflows. The share acquisition will also enable closer co-operation between the two companies as well as to helping plantri to expand its own business. Along with Gerd Sander, ANNOVA CEO Michael Schüller (pictured) will also be CEO of plantri GmbH.

“We’ve been working closely with plantri and Gerd Sander for quite a while now and have already established a great deal of synergy in the development and marketing of our products,” said Schüller. “Together, we can improve how we bring these strengths to market and this is why we have decided to create a closer, more formal bond between the two companies.”

The plantri team will remain in Berlin, working closely with their counterparts in Munich. As well as supporting ANNOVA Systems by developing new modules for OpenMedia, plantri will expand its own product portfolio and will position itself in the international market directly or with partners. Plantri will focus on apps such as Artists Database and Trailer Planning as well as linking newsroom planning data to Facebook and Twitter via BIS.

Sander commented: “Our connection with ANNOVA is the next important milestone in the development of the company. With ANNOVA’s experience and extensive network, we will have the opportunity to make our innovative developments available to a wider market.”
