Sony has announced the launch of its new DWM-30 digital wireless microphone.
As the latest addition to Sony’s DWX digital microphone range, the DWM-30 will succeed the DWM-02N, said the company.
Electromagnetic field simulation aims to provide users in environments such as news gathering and live event broadcasting with enhanced transmission performance and more stable operation. Additionally, the DWM-30 supports the latest codec modes and features a lightweight design with a battery life of approximately 6 hours, an improvement of around an hour on the previous model (when used with alkaline batteries).
Two models will be available in Europe providing bandwidth coverage of up to 148MHz in the TV white space band / 375kHz channel plan, allowing up to 16 channels per TV band.
With reviewed electrical circuits and mechanical structure, the DWM-30 offers improved sound quality, said Sony.
In CODEC MODE 2, latency of 1.2 msec is delivered. The mic also supports CODEC MODE 4, balancing high transmission quality with low latency. HIGH GAIN MODE allows for 3-stage amplification of +6/+12/+18dB, enabling amplification even when the microphone is held away from the mouth.
