Audio-Technica debuts on-camera shotgun microphones

The AVT-SG1 and AVT-SG1LE have been designed for professional videographers and content creators

Audio-Technica is introducing two new compact microphones designed for professional videographers and content creators.

The ATV-SG1 delivers professional grade dual-channel flexibility with matrix switch that lets users choose duplicate left/right channels, a primary track paired with a -6dB safety track, or a primary microphone track alongside a wireless lavalier feed, all sent directly into the camera’s stereo input.

The microphone features a highly directional 100 mm acoustic tube as well as a newly designed 14 mm large-diameter diaphragm. Its low-cut filter switch enables users to attenuate noise from wind, traffic, HVAC systems, and other low-frequency sources.

The compact ATV-SG1LE can be plugged into a DSLR, mirrorless SLR or other camera. The microphone is130 mm (5.12″) long and 35 mm (1.38″) wide. The mic’s 12-sided shoe mounting plate also allows it to be attached to the camera at 30-degree increments to enable the capture of off-centre sound sources.
