Google and YouTube are discussing removing all children’s content from YouTube’s main site and moving it to the YouTube Kids app, The Wall Street Journal has reported.
The move would counter the site’s ongoing problem of inappropriate comments being shared on kids content.
Google executives are also considering removing the auto-play feature from children’s content, which has previously caused inappropriate videos to play automatically.
A YouTube spokesperson said: “We consider lots of ideas for improving YouTube and some remain just that – ideas.”
The Wall Street Journal added that Google is taking advertising revenue into consideration, noting how the move could negatively effect revenue but that major advertisers have already pulled out due to disturbing content in the past.
