TiVo announces 4K streaming device

TiVo Stream 4K combines live TV with Cloud DVR

TiVo has announced a 4K streaming device from CES in Las Vegas.

The company has partnered with US OTT provider Sling TV to create TiVo Stream 4K, combining live TV with Cloud DVR. It will also integrate with online video services including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO and YouTube.

The Sling TV app will be available on the TiVo Stream 4K box, allowing Sling subscribers to search on the TiVo Stream 4K interface or by speaking into their voice remote.

TiVo Stream 4K uses a small device to plug into the HDMI port on the TV and includes Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision HDR.

Sling TV executive VP and group president Warren Schlichting said: “Our subscribers are always looking for new ways to quickly find content they enjoy.

“This strategic relationship will not only help our current subscribers rediscover TiVo, it will make it easier for new Sling subscribers to make the transition to streaming video.”

TiVo president and CEO Dave Shull added: “With TiVo Stream 4K, we have created a dramatically better experience for viewers who are tired of hunting through apps and interfaces to find the amazing content available through online content providers.

“We are excited to help TV lovers and occasional viewers alike make the most of their time in front of the screen and bring together the best of the streaming and TV experiences.”
