Content takes the Hiway as streaming infrastructure platform makes global debut

The company is already working with Raindance Releasing, the UK's largest independent film festival's new OTT streaming service

Hiway, a UK-based streaming infrastructure layer for direct-to-consumer content, has made its global debut.

Instead of duplicating every file across CDNs, Hiway syndicates access, payments, analytics, and playback to any partner without ever moving the media.

According to the company, streams originate from the content owner’s Hiway account, never leaving their library. There is no upload, transcoding, metadata transfer, artwork copy, or audio files to receive.

“Rights holders make the content. Platforms keep the audience, the data and the margin. The economics had to change. We built the infrastructure to give it back,” explained David Orman, CEO and co-founder, Hiway.

The company is already working with Raindance Releasing, the UK’s largest independent film festival’s new OTT streaming service. The platform is described as the first OTT in the world to operate with effectively zero streaming infrastructure costs.
