Sky Q launches in Italy

Will include 4K and voice control

Sky Italia is launching its next-generation TV platform Sky Q this week.

The Sky Q box will include 4K HDR, voice control, Sky Soundbox and Sky Q Black which are all due to launch “in the coming months.”

As with the UK box, the Sky Q Platinum box connects to both the satellite dish and the internet while the Sky Mini works wirelessly with second sets and the Sky Go app allows users to view content on mobiles and tablets both in and out of the home.

The Sky Q box acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot and offers 2TB of storage, including the ability to record four programmes at once while watching a fifth.

“Today we’re experiencing the same enthusiasm and sense of transformation that we experienced in 2003 with the birth of Sky,” said Andrea Zappia, managing director, Sky Italia.

“This is a new start for us. As then, we are going to offer Italian families something that can really change the quality of time they spend on TV, giving more value to what they have that is the most valuable, their free time. Sky Q technology comes into everyday life in a simple way, everything is so easy and intuitive that every new action turns in a moment into a new habit. It is no coincidence that one of the key words of the Sky Q launch campaign will be “Technology”, just to give you a sense of how technology can improve people’s lives.”
