154,700 hours broadcast, 100,000 crews deployed, 49 deadline days covered: Sky Sports News turns 25

Sky Sports News is celebrating turning 25 today by broadcasting for free until 7pm on Sky Sports YouTube and the Sky Sports App.

Mike Wedderburn and Kelly Cates presented the first broadcast in 1998.

In 25 years, the channel has broadcast over 154,700 hours involving 100,000 Sky Sports News crews, as well as 49 deadline days and approximately 25,000 Premier League goals.

Marking the anniversary, director of Sky Sports News Mark Alford, said: “It’s a landmark year for us in Sky Sports News. We’re celebrating our 25th birthday from a fully refurbished state-of-the-art studio and broadcast gallery.
