Despite protest from users, Netflix has confirmed it is testing video promos that play between episodes of a show a viewer is streaming.
The videos are full-screen and are personalised for the user. They are currently being used to promote content available in other areas of Netflix’s UI.
According to TechCrunch, Netflix isn’t looking to roll the tests out to all users at this time, and is instead using the test to find out how better to promote its content to viewers.
Unlike previous tests, the full-screen videos are featuring content from across Netflix’s whole catalogue rather than just its Originals.
