Earlier this year, Netflix co-CEO Clarke Peters revealed plans for the streamer to launch a new vertical video product in 2026.
That plan has now come to fruition with the launch of Clips, a new vertical video feed available on Netflix’s mobile app, which the company describes as a “personalised highlights reel” that helps viewers decide what to watch next.
The feed includes clips from series, films and specials tailored to the subscriber’s tastes.
But unlike TikTok or Instagram Reels, Netflix Clips lets users add films and shows to their list from the feed, as well as share recommendations with friends or their own social media platforms.
According to the company, it intends to continue to develop Clips to include podcasts, live programming and collections based on genres, such as romance or specific interests.
“Mobile is an important part of how Netflix members stay connected to the entertainment they love,” aid Elizabeth Stone, Netflix’s chief product and technology officer. “With our enhanced navigation and Clips, our new vertical video feed, we’re building on past learnings to deliver an experience designed for the way members want to enjoy Netflix on their phones: for the moments in between, to discover a new title, or a quick laugh.
“Our vision is to make our mobile experience as entertaining as what you watch, delivering increasingly personalised, immersive experiences for any mood or moment. This is just the beginning.”
