British viewers continue to embrace 4K UHD content

New figures from British Association for Screen Entertainment

Sales of 4K UHD Blu-rays continued to grow in 2019, accounting for 16.3 per cent of the Blu-ray market.

That’s an increase of 3.3 per cent year-on-year according to figures from the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE), with 4K UHD Blu-ray sales now accounting for 4.3 per cent of sales in the overall disc market.

Meanwhile, EST (electronic sell-through, or digital purchase) saw a growth of 4.5 per cent volume and 3.5 per cent value in 2019, with digital purchase accounting for 33 per cent of the top 10 titles of 2019.

The most popular purchases across both digital and disc purchases were Bohemian Rhapsody and Avengers: Endgame for film and Game of Thrones and Chernobyl in TV.
