Encoding specialists Telestream and media management company Axle Video have collaborated to create a powerful managed transcoding platform. By combining Episode Pro and Axle 2012 the joint solution is a powerful, simple and affordable. “Direct integration provides Axle users with easy access to Episode’s vast range of file formats, and enables centralisation of encoding,” said Barbara DeHart of Telestream. “We are thrilled to offer Asle Video users the encoding flexibility and scalability they need in today’s multi-format production environments.” Axle Video is a low cost, browser based media management solution, which runs on a Mac Mini and connects to nearly any storage. It provides the ability to search, review and annotate material from iPads, PCs and Macs anywhere in the world. The new collaboration allows the Axle 2012 software to connect to up to 10 Episode Pro software systems, each running on a multi-core processor. This enables Axle to create proxies at up to 20 times real time, a massive boost in productivity. It also gives Axle users easy access to Episode Pro’s encoding presets for a wide range of finishing formats. “The sheer breadth of formats supported by Episode Pro, as well as the ability to scale transcode throughput by adding low-cost Mac Minis, make Telestream an ideal partner as we continue to bring radical simplicity to media management,” said Sam Bogoch of Axle Video. All the software products are available online for download, with individual Episode Pro licences at $995 and Axle 2012 at $1295 for a five-seat licence.
