Crystal Vision used IBC2013, which closed this week, to showcase their latest products. Highlights included the LKEY 3 (pictured), Multilogo V132 and V432, Safire 3, TANDEM 310 and SYNNER 310.
The LKEY 3 is a linear keyer designed for the keying of any graphics over 3Gbs, HD or SD video streams. It includes a number of features appearing on a Crystal Vision keyer for the first time. It is the first 3Gb/s-compatible linear keyer, has a frame synchroniser on each input timed to an external Black and Burst or tri-level syncs analogue reference and also includes an additional 10 frames of video delay on each input. It also features fades, relay bypass protection and a choice of control.
MultiLogo provides three layers of keying from a variety of internal and external sources, including a 4GB or 8GB video store which can hold up to 500 still or animated logos. Extensive audio capabilities have been introduced to the new version of MultiLogo. It can embed up to four audio groups into its video outputs, with audio mixing allowing the output audio to be generated from a mix of the audio embedded on the video input and a voiceover sourced from either the two internal audio stores or from an external AES input.
The recently-launched Safire 3 realtime chroma keyer works with 3Gbs, HD and SD sources. It uses multi-point sampling to automatically get the best possible default settings, and features an algorithm plus a range of fine-tuning tools including filters, edge shaping, colour correction, colour spill processing and lighting compensation. Also shown at IBC was the Safire 3 Controller, a 3U Ethernet control panel which offers a large 8-inch touchscreen as well as physical controls.
Finally, Crystal Vision has improved the ways to access the audio metadata when encoding and decoding Dolby E on its flagship embedded audio products, the TANDEM 310 embedder/de-embedder and SYNNER 310 synchroniser. Both products can encode and decode Dolby E by fitting the DBE-E Dolby encoder top board or the DBE-D Dolby decoder top board. Both can now embed and de-embed SMPTE 2020, which is a way of carrying accessible audio metadata in the same data stream as the video and embedded audio. Also new is the ability to remotely read the metadata status on the DBE-D Dolby decoder using SNMP or the Statesman PC control software.
