Spain’s Movistar+ puts Sony’s MLS-X1 in the mix

The video mixer is part of the set up at Movistar+'s first SMPTE-2110 studio

Movistar+ has added Sony’s MLS-X1 video mixer into its first SMPTE-2110 studio, located at the Tres Cantos production centre.

To meet all the requirements of the set, the company opted for an MLS-X1 mixer equipped with a single processor node and two input/output cards. The processing core is complemented by an ICP-X7000 control panel, equipped with four mixing/effect banks and an auxiliary bank.

The processing and I/O management capabilities of the Sony MLS-X1 exceed Movistar+’s current needs, giving the company room for future load growth. Due to its modular and scalable architecture, the MLS-X1 allows systems to be configured with multiple interconnected units, a flexibility that is key in the Movistar+ production centre.

“Thanks to this configuration, Movistar+ not only covers the current signal volume, but also has a scalable platform ready to add additional inputs, outputs, and functionalities without having to replace the heart of the system,” said Juan Antonio Piñar, project engineer at Movistar+.

“With this technological upgrade, Movistar+ reinforces its commitment to innovation and the quality of its broadcasts, consolidating its position as a benchmark in broadcast production in Spain.”
