SCENESIS provides post production services for new film, Ravens

Boutique post production house SCENESIS is providing 3D, Digital matte-painting, conceptualisation, compositing, and clean-up as part of a changing schedule for forthcoming film, Ravens.

The film is from writer-director Mark Gill and was shot in Tokyo, Japan in October 2023. It chronicles the life of Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase,

The Paris-based post production house has worked to bring the CG in Ravens to life, with insertions created using 3DMax and Octane as the rendering software.

For compositing, tracking and cleaning SCENESIS used Nuke and Matchmover, while for the cleaning and tracking stage the workflow was created with Aces, allowing all the VFX artists to work simultaneously on the same shot.

Due to fast rendering software, the SCENESIS artists also created concepts for 3D insertions while maintaining the necessary speed of execution for the production (anamorphic project with particular special effects), said the company.

Speaking about working with the SCENESIS team, Gill said: “[They] have shown artistic sensitivity to the vision of the film. Working closely with me and my DoP, they have created visual effects that not only enhance the final image but they’ve done it in such a way that they go completely unnoticed. A real skill.”
